ADM Reviews 2015-2016-2021 By Beverly Ingram 9/17/2015 A beautiful, strong and lasting marriage is built on a foundation of love, truth and lots of hard work. However, strong or powerful we think we are, we remain vulnerable and like a puzzle piece can become lost... In the debut novel " A Desperate Man " by Gayle Price Thomas, she depicts this through Dr Ruben Stacey. Dr Stacey has built a prominent career as a neurosurgeon while married to the love of his life. Then one day after more than twenty years of marriage his wife tells him some heartbreaking news. Dr Stacey, begins to take steps he thinks will allow them to hold on to the lifestyle he and his wife have worked so hard to achieve. Instead, the family of Dr Ruben Stacey becomes in tangled in a web of deceit, the author so cleverly builds up the suspense and uses important issues influencing families today to put the novels puzzle pieces in place yet leaves one lost piece, that will keep the reader turning pages until the end and wanting more of Dr. Ruben Stacey... A great debut!!
Connie February 8, 2016: Being a member of a book club causes me to read all kinds of books. This one was special. I read it in two days. I couldn't put it down. A must read, this book is on our list of books to read for the book club!
Review 2021 Renee A few years ago I won an autographed copy of this book as a top prize winner in a photography contest. Little did I know that what a prize I was getting. I began reading it upon it's arrival and was immediately hooked!! Being a fan of this genre, I found it an easy read that is hard to put down. I periodically go back and read it again. Unfortunately, I loaned my beloved autographed copy to a friend to read, and then she loaned it to someone else, who wanted to read it. I tried unsuccessfully to get it back and decided, that if I had any hope of reading it again I would have to buy a copy, which I did. The book now sits prominently on the shelf where I can grab, and read it whenever I want. It's a work of fiction, a novel so well written that sometimes we forget. I trust and follow God. This book should not be devalued because of it's fictional subject matter. People have different likes and dislikes and we can choose which genres to read. I enjoyed this book the first time I read it and enjoy it again when I feel like losing myself in this amazing story!!
